Jonathan Drouin Gets Brutally Honest With the Canadiens Media: He Believes That He Will Receive a Bitter Welcome at the Bell Centre on Monday
Last night on TVA Sports around 6:20 PM, with Jean-Charles Lajoie, there was a very interesting guest interview.
Jonathan Drouin in an interview on TVA Sports for the first time since his good streak with the Colorado Avalanche
Drouin was really generous in his answers and it was beautiful to see. Clearly, he's doing well and he is well, which is really great.
Statistically, things are going just as well.
After scoring 8 points in his first 26 games in Colorado, Drouin now has 14 points in his last 14 games. Very solid!
Jonathan and the Avalanche will be visiting the Bell Centre next Monday, and it's sad to think that the crowd might possibly boo him.
At least he's expecting it.
"I expect a bit of booing and a bit of applause. Every player who comes back to Montreal gets some boos when he touches the puck, so I'm preparing a bit for that," mentioned to JiC
Personally, I think we should surprise him and welcome him grandly, with applause and not boos, but I'm eager to see.
Let's remember that he has been enormously involved, quietly and behind the scenes, in his community.
He has given a lot of time and money to help causes that are so important in Quebec and Montreal.
Drouin had a lot to say about the Montreal Canadiens and their fans
Despite everything that has happened here, we see that Drouin still appreciates the Montreal Canadiens fans and the organization just as much.
When questioned about this by JiC, he could have given a short answer and just confirmed that he has no regrets, but no.
He launched into a long, very sincere and heartfelt response. He had a lot to say.
"I loved my six seasons in Montreal. There were highs and lows, it was a super nice place for me. I believe the last two years helped me develop my game today. I'm very eager to come back and have dinner with some CH players and my family will come to watch the game. It's going to be special, you tell yourself it's just another game but it's not. Since November I've been looking at the date."
"It's hard to put one thing only (to explain why he didn't play up to par in Montreal), but there was a time when I was afraid of making mistakes. I wasn't comfortable with my game and I was thinking about too many things.
At my first game, I thought I was ready but I wasn't. It took me years to understand [the pressure]. But I think in the last two years, Martin St-Louis really helped me with all that, to just play hockey and not think about what people thought of me. The fans have been extraordinary with me despite everything."

And it continued like that.
He also added that he believes Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are doing excellent work and that the team is on the right track, especially with Martin St-Louis at the helm.
He's really not worried about the club's future success.
Finally, here's a surprising revelation from Jonathan Drouin that says a lot.
Drouin still listens to Martin St-Louis!
"I admit that I still quite often listen to Martin's press points, he describes the game like almost no one else does." - Drouin
