Recently interviewed on the Cam and Strick podcast, former Ottawa Senators player Chris Neil unfortunately took a shot at analyst (and former head coach) Guy Boucher.
According to the former Ottawa Senators strongman, before deciding to retire, he had received a few contract offers, including one from the Montreal Canadiens. Wow!
Neil with the Montreal Canadiens?
But no. Neil ultimately turned down the Habs' offer (again according to him) because he didn't want to move his family, but he insists he really could have become a CH player
While telling all this, Neil takes the opportunity to throw a punch at his former coach.
"Montreal was really interested in me, so I could have played a lot against the Senators and I could have shot pucks to Boucher on the bench." - Chris Neil
And that unfortunately wasn't said in jest. Neil flat out said he wished he had signed with the Montreal Canadiens, so he could have faced Guy Boucher more often (and shoot pucks at him?). That's really special.
One can imagine that Neil believes that Boucher is behind his departure from Ottawa, and that the two didn't get along at all, but clearly it's getting personal.
Chris Neil adds this, to put Boucher down:
"He didn't have control of the locker room, the players did. We held each other accountable." - Chris Neil
This is one of the worst insults to make to a head coach.
In short, it's extremely inflammatory and likely to greatly displease the man who is now a top hockey analyst for RDS.
