However, despite the excellent work done by the two hockey men, Canadiens fans will have to be patient before seeing their favorite team back among the NHL's elite. But as reported by Félix Forget of Danslescoulisses.com, two reputable informants have made a prediction that will no doubt please hockey fans across Quebec.
On a recent episode of his podcast The Sick Podcast, Tony Marinaro had Jimmy Murphy of Montreal Hockey Now as his guest, and both tipsters said they believe Hughes and Gorton will, one day, win a Stanley Cup as executives with the Canadiens.
Of course they didn't give a specific time frame for when that might happen, but both informants mentioned that they really like the composed, analytical style of both leaders.
On the other hand, if Murphy believes that Martin St-Louis will be behind the bench during this eventual Stanley Cup conquest, Marinaro did not want to get too far ahead of himself, mentioning in passing that it is more difficult for a coach to stay in the job long term.
It's all well and good to claim that the team will eventually win a 25th Stanley Cup, but we have to admit that the strategy of rebuilding has never really been used in Montreal and that despite some changes in the organization over the last year, there is still a lot of work to do before seeing a parade in the streets of Montreal.
