It seems like a long time ago, but a few weeks ago we discovered a new young NHL star goalie.

The one who probably delivered the best performance of the 2022 playoffs (in a single playoff round) is not Andrei Vasilevskiy, it's not Igor Shesterkin either, even though they were absolutely incredible.

According to many, the best performance of the 2022 series, for one round, goes to the young goalie of the Dallas Stars Jake Oettinger.

Oettinger, 23 and drafted 26th overall in 2017, has played seven games in the most recent series and these are his stats: one shutout, 1.81 goals-against average, 0.954% save percentage and a 3-3-1 record.

He has been truly sensational. This season, in 48 games, Oettinger has won 30 games, maintained a 2.53 GAA and a 0.914% save percentage,

Why are we telling you about him today?

We're telling you because noted journalist Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceOff has suggested seven hostile offers that NHL organizations could make this summer to restricted free-agent players. (Now that hostile offers are becoming less and less rare)

According to Seravalli, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens (as well as a few other teams in the league) should consider making a hostile offer to goalie Jake Oettinger. In the case of the Habs, it would be to replace Carey Price for good and to secure the CH's very long-term future in net.

As Seravalli mentions, this kind of opportunity doesn't come along very often.

At 23 years old, Oettinger is clearly the future of the Stars and one of the best goalies in the world. However, he is still without a contract for the upcoming season.

According to Seravalli, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Washington, Chicago, Seattle, Ottawa, San Jose, New Jersey, Arizona, Buffalo and Anaheim could be moving on this deal.
