Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes was present at a press conference in the last few seconds to talk about the Ben Chiarot trade, but he was asked about several other issues and he dropped a major piece of information.
"We're going to trade Jeff Petry (for family reasons, among other things) when we have a reasonable return that is beneficial to the Montreal Canadiens." Other than that, Hughes (correctly) would not reveal his plan or what he is specifically aiming to acquire by Monday night. The only thing he would confirm is that he will trade Jeff Petry when the right offer comes along.
That could be today, tomorrow, Monday or this summer.
More details to come...
