One of the big things Kent Hughes has in common with Marc Bergevin is that he is extremely active and never hesitates to find out about good players available on the trade market.

He is constantly on the lookout to improve his roster and we love it. The results are very promising.

Hughes has made some solid trades, and it seems he is always aware of the possible good moves to make. The trade involving Kirby Dach is a good example.

Speaking of that trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, it could have never happened.

Why did it never happen? Because Romanov was almost traded elsewhere.

It never came out publicly (here's another proof that things move a lot more than we think behind the scenes), but anyway, the Habs would have made an offer for Brock Boeser, and the young defenseman Alexander Romanov was involved.

At least, according to tipster Rick Dhaliwal.

According to this Vancouver reporter, Romanov was offered to the Canucks, along with a draft pick and a hefty contract, to acquire Brock Boeser and bring him to Montreal.

Vancouver's GM reportedly refused.

That explains the fact that many rumors are linking Boeser to the Montreal Canadiens now that the forward is openly available on the market. There is a history.

Boeser is only 25 years old and he has a huge potential. File to follow.

Offer tabled (by Montreal) in Vancouver, for Boeser, prior to the trade involving Kirby Dach:

To the Canadiens - Brock Boeser

To the Canucks - Alex Romanov + A draft pick + a hefty contract (CH player)

Will the Habs come back to the table? It seems almost certain that they will at least inquire.
