On the topic of interesting trade rumors involving our Montreal Canadiens, TSN reporter Ryan Rishaug discussed the Joel Edmundson file, along with Arpon Basu, and he brought up an interesting proposal.

According to him, the Edmonton Oilers are potentially interested in acquiring Edmundson, and it makes perfect sense. He is exactly the kind of player that GM Ken Holland wants to acquire before the trade deadline.

A concrete proposal?

Basu mentioned that Kent Hughes would ask for a 2023 first round pick, or a former first round pick, and Rishaug brought up an interesting name: Xavier Bourgault. (a player who was once linked to the Habs).

He also talked about adding young Jesse Puljujarvi to make it work on the salary cap, and besides, according to him, the Finn would be a nice project for the CH's reinvigorated development team. Martin St-Louis could possibly unlock his big potential.

In light of this discussion, see their trade proposal:

TO MONTREAL - Xavier Bourgault + Jesse Puljujarvi + possibly a pick

TO EDMONTON - Joel Edmundson

Other option:

TO MONTREAL - 2023 first round pick

TO EDMONTON - Joel Edmundson

Would you do it? Which of the following options would you prefer?

Puljujarvi, 24 years old and 6 feet 4 inches, is a winger who was drafted 4th overall in 2016. He has six points this season and had 36 points in 65 games last season.

Bourgault, 20, was drafted 22nd overall in 2021. He has 11 points and seven goals in 20 AHL games this season (75 points and 36 goals in 43 QMJHL games last season).
