The Pierre-Luc Dubois file is the talk of the town, especially in Montreal. Many believe that he will end up with the CH and it is only a matter of time. The main interested party seems to tell anyone who wants to know that his wish is to wear a blue-white-red jersey.

See a very interesting exchange:

"The rumor that is circulating is that he repeats to anyone who will listen in his entourage that he absolutely wants to play in Mtl."

- Nicolas Cloutier, TVA Sports

"Indeed and I confirm to you that this is not a rumor!"

- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

So it's confirmed.

In the most recent edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman adds more, much against his better judgment, on the subject. The journalist thinks the Jets could turn to Timo Meier to do a rebuild around him. In his reflection, Friedman states, once again, that Dubois is going to be a Habs before long.

"Friedman on 32TP wonders about Winnipeg and Timo Meier, but they didn't like their last foray into renting with Kevin Hayes. Wheeler has one more year, Dubois' situation leans towards MTL, Scheifele has 1 more year before being UFA'd. The Jets could trade for Meier and rebuild around him."

In 56 games this season with the Jets, Dubois has 23 goals, 31 assists for 54 total points. He is just 7 points shy of tying his league-best performance from the 2018-2019 season when he had 61 points while still with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Quebecer will be an RFA this summer and, depending on the contract he signs, he could become free as a bird in the summer of 2024. Seeing his desire to play with the CH, we can only wait and see if he will wait another year or if Kent Hughes will acquire him.
