On Wednesday, Mathieu Perreault was placed on waivers by Kent Hughes. He finally knew his fate on Thursday afternoon when he was not claimed by any NHL team.
It seems, according to Eric Engels, that the Quebecer did not like his fate at all. He will soon meet with Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to discuss his future with the organization. He might not join the Laval Rocket after all.
As Engels mentioned, Perreault could very well leave by next Monday. The fact that he has already gone through waivers could also help.
This season, the 34 year old forward has been very unlucky with injuries. He has not been able to find a good rhythm and has only accumulated 5 points in 18 games. He will become an uncompensated free agent next summer after signing a one-season, $950,000 contract before the start of last season.
