As reported by Marco Normandin of Habsolumentfan.com, Stars general manager Jim Nill announced earlier this week that defenseman John Klingberg and goaltender Braden Holtby will not be traded by March 21 even though they will both become unrestricted free agents this summer.
The team could be looking for reinforcements to finish the season strong, but one Stars player could very well be on his way out of Dallas and that is former Canadiens' Alexander Radulov.
The 35-year-old forward is in the final year of his contract with the team and is arguably a shadow of his former self, having recorded just 19 points, including only three goals, in 53 games this season.
Nevertheless, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman mentioned that the New York Rangers could be interested in Radulov.
The Rangers are currently in third place in the Metropolitan Division and GM Chris Drury could well integrate the Stars forward into his lineup for the playoffs. And rightly so, the latter has compiled a record of 49 points in 64 career playoff games and could be very useful to the team alongside his compatriot Artemi Panarin.
Radulov's salary could be an issue as he is making $6.25 million this year. In order for a team to acquire him, the Stars will likely have to withhold some of his salary.
