After an interesting off-season with the Blackhawks, expectations were pretty high on the Chicago side. Stan Bowman had acquired Seth Jones and Marc-Andre Fleury.
However, the scandal that broke a few weeks ago has confirmed that nothing is going right for the Blackhawks. After 12 games, Chicago has an ugly 1-9-2 record and a minus-21 goal differential.
Stan Bowman left his job because of the Kyle Beach affair and coaches Jeremy Colliton, Tomas Mitell and Sheldon Brookbank were all fired yesterday.
Now there are rumours that Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane could be leaving the organization sooner rather than later.
That's what journalist Adam Proteau reported when he said that the Hawks should test the value of their two stars on the market.
Kane and Toews are certainly valuable to other NHL clubs. Kane has 1099 career points while Toews has 821. Both forwards also have a lot of experience, having won three Stanley Cups since joining the NHL.
It will be interesting to see if the Blackhawks will take a youthful turn when the good years of Kane and Toews are behind them.
Many big decisions will have to be made in the organization in the coming weeks while no coach and GM have been named. In short, we can't wait to see the outcome of this story.
