In the context of an interesting report by the new journalist assigned to cover the Montreal Canadiens, Anthony Martineau, there is a sad section concerning the young goalie Cayden Primeau.

Clearly, he apparently needs a fresh start and a change of scenery.

Remember that Primeau must go through the NHL waiver for the first time in his career if Kent Hughes does not keep him in Montreal this season (he can't just go and join the Laval Rocket).

In short, returning to the observations of journalist Martineau, it is indeed sad and worrying.

According to him, Primeau seems sad and practically resigned.

"I have rarely seen an athlete, in the middle of training camp, look as downcast as Cayden Primeau.

Having spent several minutes by his side Saturday, in the press room, I can confirm that he is not in a good state of mind.

With teary eyes and evasive gaze, the young man really did not display the biting of a goaltender fighting for his survival, which is however the case.

Is he more affected than we think by his current situation? His nonverbal and... some of his words suggest yes.

It's sad because he's a very likable young man. However, nothing is decided at the moment. And he did have, admittedly, a good game on Sunday, during the traditional Red vs White (shutout for 30 minutes).

Let's wish him the best of luck. The talent is there. But now he must show an ability to deliver over an extended period." - Anthony Martineau

A situation to monitor! If Primeau leaves the organization, all signs point to Jakub Dobes (who will be in goal tonight) possibly becoming the new third goalkeeper, behind Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault.
