Surprise reassignment of the defenseman Arber Xhekaj with the Laval Rocket in the AHL? That's what has just been mentioned as a possibility by Renaud Lavoie
In today's column on the airwaves of BPM Sports, TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie sparked numerous reactions, not ruling out the possibility of seeing Arber Xhekaj start the season with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League.
He doesn't say that this will definitely happen, but he has opened the door.
Personally, we don't believe it and we are convinced that Xhekaj will be with the Canadiens.
With the injury suffered by Chris Wideman, note that eight defenders will be vying for six or seven spots.
These eight defenders are Mike Matheson, David Savard, Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Arber Xhekaj, Justin Barron, Johnatan Kovacevic, and Gustav Lindstrom.
If we consider that Matheson, Savard, and Guhle have their spots secured, that leaves three or four "spots" for Harris, Xhekaj, Barron, Kovy, and Lindstrom.
At least one of them will be cut.
Young players like David Reinbacher, Logan Mailloux, or William Trudeau could shuffle the deck, but that remains to be seen.
