With the season over, all that's left is for the organization to prepare for the next draft, which will take place next June in Las Vegas.
As we know, it's still unknown at what rank Kent Hughes will first step onto the podium, but it is very likely to be between the 5th and 7th picks.
That said, we remember that last year with the fifth overall selection, the Canadiens' GM had set his sights on defenseman David Reinbacher, which had not been unanimously popular among fans, but as reported by the site Danslescoulisses.com, this year should be different.
During the podcast The Basu & Godin Notebook, journalists Arpon Basu and Marc-Antoine Godin discussed the strategy the Canadiens will adopt at the draft and according to them, Kent Hughes will select a forward.
This could reassure Canadiens fans because several quality defensemen are available this year, such as Sam Dickinson, Anton Silayev, Artyom Levshunov, and Zayne Parekh, to name just a few.
Looking at the forwards who might potentially be available when it's the Canadiens' turn, the names of Cayden Lindstrom, Berkly Catton, and especially Tij Inginla are exciting for hockey fans.
The latter, in fact, had met with the Canadiens organization four times and, just saying, Kent Hughes could correct the mistake of 2018, when the Canadiens let a certain Brady Tkachuk slip away. It could be the perfect time to select another son of a former NHL player, as Tij is, of course, the son of Jarome Iginla.
