A trade between the Canadiens and the Sharks involving Mikael Granlund has just been proposed
A new trade involving the Montreal Canadiens has just been proposed, this time with the San Jose Sharks for forward Mikael Granlund.
This proposal comes from Tony Marinaro, shared on TVA Sports.
Clearly, the team could use additional offensive support and another seasoned veteran to guide the younger players.
Marinaro's proposal combines these needs and, moreover, involves another Finnish forward who could potentially connect well with Patrik Laine.
To support Jake Evans and Christian Dvorak at center, and to allow Kirby Dach to remain on the wing, Mikael Granlund could be a viable solution.

Let's remember that Jake Evans is now the new second-line center for the Canadiens.
«If Jake Evans is there, it's because Dach isn't getting the job done, it's because Dvorak isn't getting the job done, it's because [Oliver] Kapanen isn't getting the job done.. Newhook as well,» said Lajoie.
This prompted Marinaro to suggest an idea to address the issue: acquire an established center from a team struggling at the bottom of the NHL, like Mikael Granlund of the San Jose Sharks.

Here's an excerpt from his exact statement.
«Mikael Granlund is in the last year of his contract,» continued the analyst. «He's a good offensive player, he could help the Canadiens as a second-line center.»
Granlund is truly having a strong season with the young Sharks.
Honestly, it's not a bad idea.
The 32-year-old forward, who was drafted 9th overall in 2010 (1st round), is a Finnish center who has 14 points in 13 games this season, including six goals.
Last season, he recorded 60 points in 69 games.
Granlund is earning $5 million per year until the end of the season.
