It started off poorly, as on the very first day of training camp, the Canadiens organization announced that the crucial defenseman Kaiden Guhle would need to sit out for a while.
At the time of the announcement, most analysts agreed that while it's far from ideal to see Guhle miss a good portion of camp, there was no concern about his availability for the first game of the season.
Today, things seem to have changed slightly, and it's not positive.
That's what some believe, and Renaud Lavoie (TVA Sports) raised this concern during his segment on BPM Sports this morning.
There's a real chance Kaiden Guhle could miss the beginning of the season, which would be far from ideal for Martin St-Louis' squad.
Additionally, once he returns, it will take him a few games to adjust and get back to 100%, as he will have barely participated in training camp or preseason games.
This should be seen as a warning.
If Guhle does miss the start of the season, expect David Savard to begin the season on the top defensive pairing alongside Mike Matheson.
Also, anticipate seeing another young defenseman start in Montreal in his place, such as Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, or Jayden Struble.
This is a situation to keep an eye on, and we hope to see Guhle back in good health as soon as possible. He's a crucial part of this defensive corps and the team overall.
