Sometimes, I have to criticize certain decisions and behaviors of members of the Montreal Canadiens organization.

It's the part I dislike the most, but it's sometimes necessary as long as it remains professional.

On the other hand, I also try to keep an eye out for the good moves to ensure they're acknowledged when applicable.

And we just witnessed one from Kent Hughes and (surely) Geoff Molson that went unnoticed over the past few hours.

The Call-Up of Young Veteran Lucas Condotta: Another Strong Example of the Class of the Montreal Canadiens Organization

When I see things like this, I feel so proud of our hockey team.

Clearly, Lucas Condotta is a young veteran highly appreciated within the organization.

He was recently named the new captain of the Laval Rocket, and even though he doesn't have the most impressive stats, he's often the first one called up from the farm team.

In short, all this is to say that it was the following post by Maxime Truman that clued me in:

We should know that Josh Anderson's health was questionable for the game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

He ended up playing, but the Habs needed to call up a player «just in case», a player to keep in the stands and bring to Philadelphia in case a forward couldn't play.

Kent Hughes could have recalled Alex Barre -Boulet, but he chose Lucas Condotta instead.

Why do I say this was an incredible gesture?

Calling up Barre -Boulet to sit in the stands wouldn't have changed anything for him.

He's on a one-way contract, so he wouldn't have earned an extra dime.

However, this small call-up for Condotta meant that, during his brief stay in Montreal, he earned 10 TIMES his annual salary.

It's a nice little gift that Hughes and Molson offered him.

The logical choice-the choice of 99% of teams-would have been to call up the player who wouldn't cost a penny more (in this case, Alex Barre -Boulet), but they still gave this little gift, this bonus, to Condotta.

Hats off! A gesture of great class towards this 26-year-old young veteran of the Habs organization.
