Chantal Machabée breaks the silence and reveals the truth about Logan Mailloux
In an interview, the excellent Chantal Machabée just broke the silence about young Logan Mailloux and his acquisition by the Montreal Canadiens.
It was through an exclusive article by Marco Normandin from the site HABSolumentFan that the VP of hockey communications for the Montreal Canadiens indeed revisited the Logan Mailloux case.
Even though it was a mistake to draft Logan Mailloux initially, Chantal Machabée is very proud of the young defenseman today
Marco Normandin did not hesitate to ask her a question on this topic, and she provided a very interesting and truthful answer.
Here is the question.
«When you joined the organization, we remember you saying that you did not agree with the selection of Logan Mailloux in the draft, which was made under the previous management.
Now, with all the work from the organization and the player, are you satisfied with where you are as he knocks on the NHL's door?» - HABSolumentFan
And here is Chantal Machabée's response.
«Exactly. I had said at the time that the Canadiens should not have drafted him because Logan [Mailloux] had asked to be exempted from the draft, and I found that admirable. But I also said in the same breath that if there was a team capable of turning the situation around and bringing something positive out of it, it was the Montreal Canadiens.
That is what the Canadiens did. That is what Geoff Molson and France Margaret Bélanger did. Geneviève Paquette did a phenomenal job in this case. They took charge of Logan, and he only wanted to redeem himself.
But seriously, I love this kid! He is serious, he does what needs to be done, and he is talented. He is an ultra-friendly young man who speaks French well, and you can feel that he wants to do good. He wants to make a difference. He is learning from this, and if he can help others avoid making the same mistakes, that can be very positive.»
Wow, this is truly beautiful to read.
Bravo to the Montreal Canadiens, and especially, bravo to Logan Mailloux!
He absolutely deserves what is happening to him and he definitely deserves the opportunity he will have next fall in the National Hockey League.
Even though it was a mistake to draft him in 2021 (because Logan had asked to be exempted from the draft), it is now a very positive situation, both for Logan Mailloux and for the Canadiens organization, as Chantal Machabée so aptly mentioned.
We are proud to have Logan Mailloux on our team, and he will be quite a hockey player.
We highly recommend the full interview, the link to which is right here.
