Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield was asked today about the death of his friend Johnny Gaudreau, and he reacted.

A week after the funerals of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, Caufield agreed to revisit the topic during his press conference today (at the Montreal Canadiens' annual golf tournament).

After a journalist made a controversial gesture towards Caufield on the day of Johnny Gaudreau's funeral, attempting to get a public reaction from him right there, in front of the cameras, the Canadiens forward was much more prepared to speak about it today (and rightfully so).

Cole Caufield accepts to talk about Johnny Gaudreau

Caufield simply mentioned that Johnny Hockey was such an important person in his life, and that he is honored to wear the number 13.

«He was a special person in my life and in the lives of so many people in the hockey world. It's special for me. I'm going to try to continue his legacy!

Seeing how many lives he changed, and how many people he positively impacted, it's truly special.»

It's very well said.

Johnny Gaudreau would be very proud to see Cole Caufield, and I truly believe the new number 13 of the Canadiens will do everything possible to honor John in the best way he can.

Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith Gaudreau, also reacted to Cole Caufield's number change, and she seems very proud to see that Cole made such a decision in honor of her husband:
