Insider Explains Major Modification to Demidov's KHL Contract That Prevents Him From Joining This Season
We are all really looking forward to seeing Ivan Demidov with the Montreal Canadiens. He has obvious talent, and he could really help the team reach the next level instantly.
While some hoped to see Demidov in the Canadiens uniform this season, General Manager Kent Hughes addressed this matter quite clearly earlier today during his mid-season review.
To explain this, to explain the fact that Demidov will unfortunately not be able to join in time to finish the season in the National Hockey League, insider Frank Seravalli revealed this:

It is this change that could prevent the Canadiens from signing Demidov before the end of the season.

Ivan Demidov, aged 19, has an impressive 31 points in 40 games this season, including 13 goals, and he has been literally on fire, especially since Kent Hughes and his associates' trip to the KHL.
