Insider Reveals Cole Caufield Could Be Receiving an Important Call and Confirms the Details
Many raised their eyebrows when Bill Guerin did not select Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield for the Four Nations Cup.
At the time of the selection, the young man was among the top scorers not only in the league but also among American players. Despite this, Guerin prioritized Matt Boldy, Jack Hughes, and Jake Guentzel over the small forward from the Habs.
When asked at the time about his non-selection, the player himself quickly moved on and preferred to focus on what he could control, which was his play with the Canadiens.
And he did so in a great way, recently scoring his 25th goal of the season during his team's overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils.
According to Renaud Lavoie, nothing is yet decided for Cole Caufield
Caufield still has a chance to participate in the competition, which will take place, as a reminder, in Boston and Montreal next February. According to recent reports from Renaud Lavoie, the Canadiens' number 13 is one of the first players to be called up in case of injury or withdrawal.

Nick Suzuki and Mike Matheson are in the same situation as Caufield
On the Canadiens, two other players find themselves in the same situation as Caufield: captain Nick Suzuki and assistant captain Mike Matheson. Both are also on the reserve list, but for Team Canada.
With the recent withdrawal of Alex Pietrangelo, the Canadiens' number 8 is surely waiting for Don Sweeney's call to know if he will replace the Vegas Golden Knights defenseman.
One thing is certain here, none of these three players will be booking a trip to the South during the competition, just in case..
We remind you that Patrik Laine and Joel Armia will both be members of the Finnish team during this small tournament organized by the NHL, which will take place from February 12 to 15, in place of the All-Star Game.
