Juraj Slafkovsky Reveals Surprising Player He Would Have Drafted 1st Overall in 2022 Instead of Himself
Lane Hutson is truly incredible. Since he started playing with the Canadiens, he has become a key player on the team. What strikes me is that he slid all the way down to 62nd overall in the 2022 draft, just because of his small size.
Seriously, many teams must really regret overlooking him.
For me, Hutson shows that talent and effort matter much more than a player's size.
He is excellent at attacking the opponent's zone and never takes a night off.
This guy gives 100% all the time. It's inspiring to see such a young player with so much passion and determination.
Even his teammates, like Juraj Slafkovsky, are very impressed by him.
Juraj Slafkovsky mentions that he would have selected Lane Hutson with the 1st overall pick in 2022
Slaf even said, with a sly smile, that he would have taken Hutson with the first pick of the 2022 draft. Pretty funny coming from the first overall pick himself.
In my opinion, Lane has a unique talent. He's already changing the image of our team. I like to joke about it, but I would have picked him first overall. And sometimes, I would have drafted myself at 62nd!
- Juraj Slafkovsky on Lane Hutson
Hutson could even be a contender for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's best rookie of the year.
I truly believe this is deserved because he is consistent and always ready to give his all.
Even if he doesn't win this trophy, it doesn't change the fact that he will have a big impact on the organization.
I think the Canadiens really found a gem in Lane Hutson. Based on his current level of play, we will be hearing about him for a long time.
The question is still interesting to ask. In your opinion, if the 2022 draft were to be redone today, at what position would Lane Hutson be drafted?
Would he go ahead of Juraj Slafkovsky?
