As we reported earlier today, there has already been plenty of action this Wednesday within the Habs organization.
Oliver Kapanen has been sent back to Europe, Lucas Condotta has been recalled, while Joshua Roy was once again overlooked.
In short, this could potentially explain that.
As we mentioned yesterday, Rugged forward, Max Jones, has been placed on NHL waivers by the Boston Bruins.
Could the Canadiens have recalled Lucas Condotta, the captain of the Laval Rocket, simply as a temporary stand-in «while waiting» for another acquisition?
Is this a very temporary recall, and is that the reason Condotta was prioritized over Roy?
It's agreed that if the Canadiens want a longer-term replacement for Oliver Kapanen (who returned to Europe this morning), Joshua Roy's name makes more sense than Lucas Condotta, who is the Laval Rocket's captain as well.
In short, it's a situation to monitor closely.
Note that we're talking about a possibility here.
Don't be surprised if the Montreal Canadiens announce the acquisition of forward Max Jones at 2 PM today.
This isn't confirmed by any means, but it does appear to be a realistic possibility for the Canadiens, especially considering that Jones is a young, physical forward, a former first-round draft pick, and seems to have good third-line potential.
The announcement for Max Jones will be made at 2 PM this afternoon.
And you, do you think the Montreal Canadiens should claim him today?
Max Jones, age 26, is a big winger standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 216 pounds. He was a first-round draft pick by the Anaheim Ducks in 2016 (24th overall) and has amassed 62 points in 262 career games in the NHL.
A story to follow.
UPDATE
It's now 2 p.m., and we have a verdict on Max Jones: insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that Jones cleared waivers.
