Martin St-Louis just spoiled the fun for fans regarding Arber Xhekaj: he clearly doesn't like The Sheriff' as a nickname
We experienced a bizarre and special moment yesterday during the press conference of head coach Martin St-Louis.
Yesterday, it was Arber Xhekaj night.
The sturdy defenseman probably had the best hockey game of his life, and everyone was talking about him after the game.
And while the excitement was palpable, a journalist was happy to ask Martin St-Louis: "is the Sheriff back?"
Let's just say the head coach didn't really get on board with this wave of enthusiasm...
Martin St-Louis clearly doesn't like Arber Xhekaj's nickname
See some quotes:
"Not sure Martin St-Louis really appreciates the attention and the Sheriff nickname that Arber Xhekaj has inherited. "You call him the sheriff but nobody in our locker room calls him that," the coach replied to Stu Cowan." - Luc Gélinas, RDS
"Martin St-Louis on Arber Xhekaj and if "The Sheriff" is back:
"You call him The Sheriff - but I don't think any of us call him that..." - Via Priyanta Emrith
It seemed to annoy him.
He could have not talked about it, he could have simply nodded, but no. This seems to indicate that he finds the nickname irritating.
Anyway, it's up to you to judge.
Beware. St-Louis still mentioned that Xhekaj played a good complete game, but he just didn't want to ride the "Sheriff" wave.
His message was quite clear anyway!
