The Canadiens' farm team is dominating the AHL standings, with two players standing out in particular: Joshua Roy and Logan Mailloux.
However, even though these two prospects, drafted by the Canadiens in 2021, are enjoying significant success, Kent Hughes should not rush to call up either of these 21-year-old athletes.
At least, that's what Eric Engels stated in a recent article on the Sportsnet website.
During a conversation with Kent Hughes, the Canadiens' GM told the reporter that the development of the organization's young players is the priority. Unless there's an emergency, Mailloux and Roy will remain with the Rocket for the time being.
These comments are likely disappointing for Canadiens fans who had hoped Mailloux and Roy would soon be called up to the big club.
This logic probably also applies to Owen Beck, who is also having an outstanding start to the season with the Rocket.
However, if the Canadiens' struggles continue and Martin St-Louis loses a few of his players due to injuries, it's very likely that Kent Hughes will make a call to the farm team to bring reinforcements to Montreal.
One thing is certain, the organization's young players seem to be thriving "down below."
