Wow! What a wonderful surprise and the news of the day for the Montreal Canadiens!
Just when young defenseman Kaiden Guhle didn't finish Sunday's game against the St. Louis Blues, and it seemed like he was seriously injured, here he is jumping onto the ice of the Bell Centre with his teammates.
Martin St-Louis will thus have some big, unexpected reinforcement in his lineup.
Few people expected to see Guhle play tonight, let's say.
No serious injury for Kaiden Guhle and no call-up for Logan Mailloux / Justin Barron
Some journalists were suggesting yesterday that we should expect the worst for Guhle, and that Logan Mailloux or Justin Barron would be called up, but it looks like that won't be the case after all.
See the live images from the Bell Centre:
Guhle, 22 years old, 6 feet 3 inches and 201 pounds, is a first-round pick (16th overall) in 2020 and he has accumulated 12 points in 48 games this season.
He also has a differential of -7 and 39 penalty minutes.
Details to follow.
