Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault made a special gesture as he headed to the locker room after last night's win over the Sabres.

I take every opportunity to mention it, Montembeault is truly an exceptional athlete, extremely thoughtful and incredibly humble. He is deeply involved in the youth community and gives back a lot.

He is an exemplary professional!

A great gesture from Samuel Montembeault as he left the ice

He demonstrated that once again last night, after his team's win against the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre, he made someone's day.

Watch the footage.

It's rare to see something like this!

Beyond the fact that he gave a stick to a young fan, surely making his night, his week, and his month, what stands out most to me is that Samuel literally "turned around," as we say, to do it.

99% of athletes, unfortunately, don't pay much attention to the signs and requests from young fans in the stands, especially at the end of a game in the hallway leading to the locker room. But Samuel noticed, stopped in his tracks, walked back to grab a stick, and gifted it to a young fan.

I absolutely loved seeing that, and I think it says so much about the kind of person Samuel Montembeault is.

He truly deserves everything coming his way right now, and he absolutely deserves to be the Montreal Canadiens' number-one goaltender.

He is a great representative and role model for our team.

Last night, Montembeault recorded his 22nd win of the season, bringing his record to 22-21-3 for the 2024-2025 season.
