We have some developments with the Montreal Canadiens today.

After a well-deserved day off yesterday for American Thanksgiving, the Habs players returned to practice today.

A change on defense and a press conference

Let's start with the good news.

Mike Matheson was back on defense, taking Jayden Struble's spot, so we can expect Struble to be sent to the stands and removed from Martin St-Louis' lineup.

The head coach will hold a press conference in the next few minutes to announce the details, so we'll keep an eye on that.

"Mike Matheson, who missed the last two Canadiens games, is on the ice for practice in Newark.

- Eric Engels, who also confirmed that he was back in his position on the blue line"

See some images:

"We have the same lines at practice today.

It seems that Jayden Struble will be absent against NYR, given the defensive rotations.

We have:

Hutson-Matheson

Guhle-Barron (Struble)

Xhekaj-Savard"

So Struble was indeed an extra.

Please also note this.

In the end, there will also be a change in net.

It will be goaltender Samuel Montembeault in goal against the New York Rangers.

Cayden Primeau will thus return to the bench.

In conclusion, here are today's forward lines:

"Caufield-Suzuki-Newhook

Slafkovsky-Dvorak-Gallagher

Roy-Dach-Anderson

Heineman-Evans-Armia

Pezzetta-Laine (extras)

Hutson-Matheson

Guhle-Barron

Xhekaj-Savard

Struble as extra"
