The Canadiens ultimately decide to keep David Reinbacher, and Kent Hughes provides the details
If Patrik Laine's injury hurts, then David Reinbacher's injury is certainly the one that will have the most long-term damage.

Kent Hughes is planning for David Reinbacher: he will not be sent to the Laval Rocket
The excellent Martin Leclerc, who met with Kent Hughes before the game against the Ottawa Senators, mentioned that Reinbacher will undergo his rehabilitation within the Canadiens organization and not with the Laval Rocket. The goal is not only to provide him with the best possible medical care but also to allow him to learn even while being injured.
Indeed, the Canadiens' objective for their 5th overall pick in the 2023 draft is to have him spend significant time with Stéphane Robidas for off-ice training and development. The organization wants to keep him close so he can closely observe the game and stay in contact with the team's veterans.
Leclerc notes that this will be his first year away from Europe, and leaving him isolated while recovering from his injury could have been detrimental. Therefore, the Canadiens will attempt to maximize his progress, even though the situation is not ideal.
This is still good news, as the Canadiens will not waste any time integrating the young man into the team. Hopefully, this will aid his development on the ice once he is able to lace up his skates again.
