During the heat of the action yesterday against the Vegas Golden Knights, Caufield got Alex Pietrangelo's glove in his face and seemed to reflexively just bite it.
Sharp-eyed observers noticed it, and now the video is circulating.
This wasn't anywhere near the category of what we've seen from other players like Brad Marchand or Brendan Lemieux, but you can imagine it's still a small gesture that gets people talking.
In Caufield's case, it wasn't dangerous or done maliciously (at least in my opinion), so we can simply put it in the bloopers category.

In any case, the referees didn't catch it, and that's probably a good thing, as it could have been a minor penalty.
It's also worth mentioning that during yesterday's game in Las Vegas, Caufield scored his 19th goal of the season (the goal that sparked the Canadiens' spectacular comeback).
At 23 years old, Caufield now has 100 goals (183 points) in just 242 career games in the National Hockey League, which is truly impressive.
In 37 games this season, he already has 19 goals and is significantly contributing to his team's success.
He's clearly having a lot of fun this season, and it shows in the results.
