Young Canadiens forward requests to play on the same line as Patrik Laine

Clearly, the acquisition of forward Patrik Laine is generating a lot of excitement for the Montreal Canadiens.

Quietly, over three summers, Kent Hughes might have acquired a complete second line.

If we consider that Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield will once again form Martin St-Louis' top line, the second line could very well consist of Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, and Alex Newhook.

At least, that's what Newhook is hoping for.

Alex Newhook would love to play on a line with Patrik Laine

With the Canadiens' regular season set to kick off in about thirty days, yes, we can start thinking about Martin St-Louis' lines.

On this subject, in an interview with Guillaume Lepage, forward Alex Newhook mentioned that he would love to complete a line with Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine.

His speed could certainly prove useful in complementing the towering Dach and Laine.

In this interview, it's clear just how thrilled Alex Newhook is about the acquisition of Patrik Laine, and like all of us, he can't wait to see him in action at the Bell Centre.

Newhook also confirmed that the players still have no idea what lines Martin St-Louis will use to start the season, but the following top-6 seems like a completely logical prediction.

1st line: Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield

2nd line: Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach, and Patrik Laine

Newhook (acquired in 2023), Dach (acquired in 2022), and Laine (acquired in 2024) are three Kent Hughes acquisitions via NHL trades.

It's promising!

Alex Newhook, 23, recorded 34 points in 55 games this season, including 15 goals (he had 30 points in 82 games last season).
