The head coach of the New York Islanders, Patrick Roy, might be about to receive some bad news.

It really has been a three-phase start to Patrick Roy's tenure with the New York Islanders.

After a rough start, Roy and the Islanders had an incredible streak of consecutive wins, but in the last few games, things have gotten very difficult again, and it's really hurting their chances of making the 2024 NHL playoffs.

The Islanders have just lost a seventh game in their last eight outings, a disastrous streak at the worst possible time, and a streak that has them sliding to 4th place in the "Wild Card Spot," four points behind the Washington Capitals and the last spot for the playoffs.

Roy, who has a record of 11-11-4 after his first 26 games in the NHL, is being let down by his offense.

The defense and goalies are solid, but the team isn't scoring enough goals.

And as if that wasn't enough, now Patrick Roy might be about to hear some really bad news. It could already be the end of his hopes.

Over for Islanders captain Anders Lee?

The New York Islanders have just had a roller-coaster weekend during which they lost another crucial game, but they might have lost even more.

Indeed, Patrick Roy might have lost his captain, Anders Lee, for the rest of the season.

It's a situation to monitor, but that's the fear currently in New York.

It would be really sad, and it would be sad to see Patrick Roy miss the spring dance, but unfortunately, it seems to be lining up to be the case.
