A trade involving the Lightning has just been completed immediately after their elimination in the first round
During the 2022 trade deadline, the Tampa Bay Lightning acquired forward Brandon Hagel from the Chicago Blackhawks. In return, Julien BriseBois gave up Taylor Raddysh, Boris Katchouk, a 1st round pick in 2023, and a 1st round pick in 2024.
With the Lightning's elimination last night, this trade has just been completed and Tampa has officially lost its 2023 1st round pick.
Verdict: Tampa Bay's 2023 1st round pick, which will officially be the 20th overall pick, has been transferred to Chicago.
This is a significant addition for the Blackhawks and a heavy loss for BriseBois' team, especially considering that the 2023 draft class is very strong and that 1st round picks in 2023 are very valuable.
The trade is officially complete and this is another negative consequence of the Lightning's 1st round defeat.
