Dramatic turn and major trade to acquire Oilers elite player Leon Draisaitl? It just came out, and they clearly believe in it in Boston
It's no secret to any hockey fan. Things are going badly, extremely badly right now for the Edmonton Oilers.
We feel that something big is coming.
How big, exactly?
After 12 games of the 2023-2024 season, they have only accumulated 5 points. The performances of Connor McDavid (2 goals in 10 games) and Leon Draisaitl (5 goals in 12 games) are raising concerns.
Do we believe that Draisaitl or McDavid will be traded? No, not to that extent. That would be way too huge.
However, some in Boston seem to believe it.
According to Boston Hockey Now, General Manager Ken Holland might possibly consider acquiring star goaltender Linus Ullmark in a trade involving Draisaitl.
The need for a goaltender in Edmonton is clearly urgent, but it would be a huge mistake, in our opinion, to sacrifice a player like Draisaitl.
Yes, Ullmark is the most recent Vezina Trophy winner and yes, he would help the Oilers a lot, but not at the price of a player like Leon.
