Dramatic turn of events in NHL waivers and the Montreal Canadiens must take advantage
The Detroit Red Wings just placed Filip Zadina on NHL waivers, a huge surprise.
When talking about trying to find the "next Kirby Dach", here's a great example. We're talking about a 23-year-old player who was compared to David Pastrnak in his draft year.
Zadina, a 6th overall pick in 2018, has scored 68 points (28 goals) in the NHL, as well as 17 points (10 goals) in his last 23 AHL games.
He was drafted a year before Dach.
A second chance that could pay off big for Zadina!
Now, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have the opportunity to acquire him absolutely free, via NHL waivers. What a bold decision by Steve Yzerman.
Zadina is signed for $1.8 million per season until 2025. He was drafted three spots after a certain Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and many Habs fans wanted Montreal to draft Zadina at the time.
We could now get him.
We are looking forward to seeing who will claim him (because he will be claimed). We will have the answer in 24 hours.
Details will follow.
