Which player is targeted at the 5th overall pick? Will the Canadiens actually draft at the 5th overall pick? Will there be a trade?
We will have our answers in a few weeks, but in the meantime, much information is circulating.
It is imagined that, as usual, Kent Hughes will attempt to make a trade before the draft, and it should not be surprising if this trade involves a defenseman (leaving) and a forward (acquired by the Canadiens).
Most fans take for granted that it will be a Justin Barron or a Jordan Harris who will be the one to go on defense, but not so fast.
Most of the trade proposals circulating involve the famous Jets' first-round pick (26th overall), Justin Barron and/or Jordan Harris, but The Athletic journalist wanted to warn the fans.
There could be a controversial and unpopular trade, as was the case with Alexander Romanov.
There is also the name Logan Mailloux, which is starting to circulate more and more and that fans do not want to see traded.
This will be a matter to follow, but it's interesting to see that some journalists are starting to prepare the ground for a trade possibly involving young players like Struble and Mailloux, as was the case with Romanov, whom fans adored.
Struble, 22 years old, is a 46th overall pick in 2019 (2nd round). He collected 10 points in 56 games this season with the Montreal Canadiens, along with 57 penalty minutes.
He also had very good moments with the Laval Rocket and literally forced his way into the NHL earlier than expected.
A defenseman will have to go this summer, but which one? Would you be frustrated to see a Logan Mailloux or a Jayden Struble traded if it means adding a Martin Necas or a Trevor Zegras?
