The TVA Sports network has proposed a trade between Kent Hughes' Canadiens and the New York Rangers, involving Cole Caufield and Alexis Lafrenière.

This is a post from the official page of Jean-Charles Lajoie's show, which is currently causing quite a stir on the web.

Let's say it's an entertaining idea, but very unrealistic.

Check out the poll in question.

«A trade of Cole Caufield for Alexis Lafrenière, if you are the Canadiens, do you accept..?

1: Yes!

2: No!

3: Next question, please!» - JiC TVA Sports

And at the time of writing, about 50% of fans have voted "Yes," they would make the trade, while 30% of fans voted "No," they would not. (20% voted for the next question, please)

It's an intriguing question to ask, a question that obviously comes at a time when Alexis Lafrenière is truly experiencing his best moments in his NHL career, but we must not forget everything that young Cole Caufield has accomplished for the Montreal Canadiens.

Caufield, 23, has accumulated 149 points in 205 career NHL games, including 81 goals. (12 points in 20 playoff games)

Caufield has scored 65 points in 82 games this season. He earns 7.85 million per year until 2031.

Lafrenière, 22, has accumulated 148 points in 298 career NHL games, including 75 goals. (21 points in 40 playoff games)

Lafrenière has scored 57 points in 82 games this season, and 12 points in 13 games in the current playoffs. He earns 2.325 million per year until 2025.

The poll results surprise me, and I thought Caufield would have the advantage. In any case, personally, I would keep Cole.

And you, would you make this trade?
