It's a discussion about the importance and emergence of the young defenseman from the Montreal Canadiens, Lane Hutson, that eventually led to this trade proposal made by Lemay.
Here is the excerpt in question.
The RDS host mentions that he would make this trade tomorrow morning, because Celebrini is quite a player.
However, André Roy responds by mentioning that offensive defensemen are extremely hard to find, an opinion that seems to be shared by Yanick Lévesque as well.
André Roy mentions that he would absolutely trade Juraj Slafkovsky for Macklin Celebrini, but obviously, in this case, we imagine that it would be the San Jose Sharks who would refuse this trade.
The consensus seems to be the following.
Martin would make this trade.
Yanick would not make this trade and would keep Hutson.
André seems torn, but it looks like he wouldn't make this trade either.
Of course, this is simply an interesting discussion, meant to entertain and spark a thought-provoking debate, but we all know very well that it will never happen.
Personally, I think it's a good question, but I don't see how Kent Hughes could justify a trade involving the young Hutson at the moment, even though Celebrini is exceptional.
Macklin Celebrini, 18 years old, has 28 points in 31 games this season and is having an incredible start to his career.
Lane Hutson, 20 years old, has 30 points in 40 games this season from the blue line, and he too is having an incredible start to his career.
Ironically, both were teammates at Boston University (NCAA) last season.
Hutson collected 49 points, compared to 64 for Celebrini.
