Despite the player's own desire to stay in town, his value is undeniable, and he could bring significant returns to Kent Hughes.
David Pagnotta has recently, in an article, linked the CH veteran to the Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, and the Dallas Stars, further fueling trade speculations.
The Texas team, seen in action at the Bell Centre last weekend, has rarely been connected with the CH concerning the defenseman. The addition of a defender of Savard's caliber to their lineup would be very beneficial. Not only does he play good hockey, but he is also an excellent teammate and has won the big trophy before.
As Renaud Lavoie reminded on Monday morning on BPM Sports, Kent Hughes will not trade his veteran just for the sake of making a trade. He would need to receive an offer he can't refuse, and it remains to be seen if the Stars will dare to make such an offer.
One of the teams that might be tempted by such an offer is the Tampa Bay Lightning. With the long-term loss of Mikhail Sergachev, Julien Brisebois could be tempted to bring his former D back to Tampa.
And as we know, the Bolts' GM is not afraid to pay the price when it comes to helping his team. Last year at the trade deadline, he acquired Tanner Jeannot for a high price.
However, there is a big difference between wanting and being able to. Unfortunately, Brisebois doesn't have the luxury to pay a high price as he only has one first-round pick for the next three drafts (the one from 2026) and a very thin prospect pool. A proposal has recently surfaced on social media based on the 2026 first-round pick and the young Ethan Gauthier. But it would be surprising if Julien now parts with the 37th pick from the last draft.
