The case of a Trevor Zegras trade to the Montreal Canadiens isn't new, but we have just seen a major development for Kent Hughes.

Although he has always mentioned, at least publicly, that he wants to stay with the Anaheim Ducks and does not want to be traded, it seems that Zegras has recently changed his mind.

David Pagnotta reports that Trevor Zegras is now open to being traded

See the exact quote.

«There is a strong belief among those close to Zegras that he is open to a trade and a fresh start, but he is not just sitting around waiting for the announcement.» - David Pagnotta

This is definitely a situation to watch closely, and clearly, it is becoming very serious.

Pagnotta adds that with this being draft week, trade discussions will inevitably intensify.

«Negotiations for a trade are expected to intensify this week in the days leading up to the NHL draft on Friday in Las Vegas.» - David Pagnotta, who also believes that a trade could happen later this summer.

It seems clear that Trevor Zegras will eventually be traded, and that the Montreal Canadiens are definitely among the few teams in the running, but it remains to be seen when this trade will take place.

Trevor Zegras, 23 years old, was the 9th overall pick in 2019.

He has accumulated 154 points in 211 NHL career games, including 55 goals and 99 assists, and his best season so far is the 2022-23 season, during which he scored 65 points in 81 games.

He finished the 2023-24 season with a streak of 8 points in eight games.
