At 26 years old, Pettersson is a solid player with 440 points in 441 career games.
Imagine how he would transform the Habs' offense.
The problem here: the price.
Elliotte Friedman says the Canucks want a good center for Pettersson or JT Miller.
For Kent Hughes, that would mean including Nick Suzuki in the trade, and we all know that the Habs won't let him go.
Unless Kirby Dach and other additions could do the trick? It's a possibility, but the Canucks are not in rebuild mode.
They want established players to continue fighting and lift the trophy.
Even though the Habs have plenty of good prospects and draft picks, it won't be enough to go after a player like Pettersson.
That's why I don't think we should believe that this rumor could come to fruition.
Kent Hughes is not ready to sacrifice players like Suzuki to speed up the rebuild.
And with the New York Rangers seemingly in we want big players mode, it increases the chances that Pettersson or Miller ends up in New York.
One thing is certain, there will be movement in Vancouver soon.
I would really like to see the Canadiens make a move for a player like Pettersson, but unfortunately, it won't happen.
In my opinion, Hughes will stay true to his plan and build for the long term with young players and draft picks.
