The situation in Arizona is beyond ridiculous. The NHL seems stubbornly set on keeping the team in the American state, even though they are obviously no longer welcome. So, if nothing changes, the Yotes players will be playing another season in Mullett Arena, facing a maximum crowd of about 5,000 people.
Recent news has emerged again illustrating just how catastrophic the situation in Arizona is. Indeed, according to the esteemed Larry Brooks in a recent edition of his column Slap Shots, important players from the Coyotes have filed complaints against their own team with the NHL.
A major decision they've made here.
Slap Shots has also learned that Coyotes players have filed several complaints with the Players' Association during the season about transportation, housing, and logistic issues below standards, in violation of the collective agreement.
There's no doubt that the NHL and the NHLPA will take these matters very seriously as they've always been very strict with the collective agreement. The most ironic thing, however, is that these complaints are due to the league's inaction (or stubbornness) in keeping the team in Arizona.
So it will be interesting to see if the league will punish Gary Bettman's pet team!
