In the last few minutes, the well-known Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has mentioned a possible very interesting twist coming in the Corey Perry case.

Even though Perry published an apology letter and seemed to admit his faults, following the Chicago Blackhawks' decision to terminate his contract, we could see a turn of events.

Indeed, according to Friedman, the NHL Players' Association is apparently preparing to appeal in this case.

In fact, the NHLPA does not want to allow the league to create a precedent with this story, and if they succeed, Perry's contract termination would be annulled. Wow.

"Don't know what Corey Perry's decision will be, but there definitely is a push for the union to grieve even if Perry declines. I don't know exact details and have no desire to minimize anything, but there are strong feelings the NHLPA cannot allow this precedent.»

- Elliotte Friedman

Imagine if it works and he becomes under contract with the Hawks again!

In short, if we simplify, without wanting to minimize anything, the NHLPA does not want teams to start terminating contracts for "minor" incidents.

We don't like the choice of words, but we understand the principle.

This would confirm the rumor that the act committed by Perry is not as unforgivable as it seems.

Again, we must be cautious, but this is what we understand.

One thing is certain, with such a statement, we must really expect this story to continue making noise.

To be continued!

It will be interesting to see if a team like the Canadiens will agree to give Corey Perry a second chance by signing him. (especially knowing this)
