This is a mysterious story that has been the talk of the town since last weekend, as Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin suddenly left his team. He was escorted by security to the airport, to catch an unknown flight to an unknown destination, and we have had no news since. A disturbing scene.
Yesterday, Frank Seravalli, a journalist and insider for Daily Faceoff, mentioned that it would be related to an incident involving alcohol (at the team hotel), and that it was so serious that the Avalanche organization had to get involved.
However, in the last few minutes, Nichushkin's agent, Mark Gandler, has broken the silence and denied these allegations, stating in an interview that his client's situation did not involve alcohol at all.
To be continued.
For now, let's just remember that Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar confirmed that Nichushkin will not be available for tonight's Game 5.
