Since mid-December, the Montreal Canadiens have been on an excellent run. Martin St-Louis' team finds ways to win games, even when coming from behind.

One of the teams that felt the wrath of the Habs during this streak is the Colorado Avalanche.

Their head coach, Jared Bednar, has praised the Montreal organization for a point that has rarely been one of its strengths in recent years: offensive production.

The Canadiens among the league's elite in offense, according to Jared Bednar

Bednar was very complimentary during his post-game press conference.

He even said that the Canadiens are among the best teams in the league for offensive creativity.

«The Canadiens are among the elite in the NHL right now for creating offense.»

- Jared Bednar

Coming from a coach who has Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar, to name just a few, on his team, this is quite the compliment.

Especially when you consider that offense has often been a weakness for the team in recent seasons.

In recent years, the club has frequently been at the bottom of the standings in terms of goals per game.

The current season is closely resembling the 2020-2021 season, in terms of ranking, not average, which ended with a Stanley Cup Final appearance.

2020-2021: 2.82 (17th)
2021-2022: 2.66 (27th)
2022-2023: 2.77 (26th)
2023-2024: 2.83 (26th)
2024-2025: 3.00 (18th)

It's true that offensive creativity doesn't necessarily mean the puck will end up in the back of the net, but there's a strong correlation.

Patrik Laine and Lane Hutson are certainly a big part of this

Let's not hide it, the arrivals of Lane Hutson and Patrik Laine in the Habs lineup have greatly helped improve the team's offensive creativity.

While the forward gives a new option to the team's power play, the defenseman brings an aspect rarely seen in the team's defense.

A blatant example occurred during the game against the Vancouver Canucks. He made a beautiful pass to Brendan Gallagher, who missed an open net.

This is not the first time this season that Hutson's plays have surprised not only his opponents but also his teammates.

Just imagine how the offensive production will be once these teammates understand how the rookie plays.

It's certain that the goals per game average will be even better.

And here, I won't even mention the future offensive contribution of Ivan Demidov..
