Fleury indeed announced that the 2024-2025 season will be the last of his career.
The veteran goaltender confirmed this on Friday during the 15th edition of the Beauchemin-Fleury-Beauvillier-Aubé-Kubel Golf Classic.
Fleury has only one goal in mind for this final campaign in the NHL: to bring the Wild back into the playoff picture.
It's worth noting that Fleury signed a one-year extension on April 17 for a salary of $2.5M. Over his career, as reported by the site CapFriendly, the Quebec native has amassed over $84M in earnings.
Fleury is not only one of the greatest Quebecois goaltenders in history but also one of the best in the league. To date, he has a regular-season record of 995-561-330-2 while maintaining a goals-against average of 2.60 and a save percentage of .912.
This is not to forget his three Stanley Cup victories (2008-2009, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017) as well as his Vezina Trophy (2020-2021) and William M. Jennings Trophy (2020-2021). He also won two silver medals at the World Junior Championships and a gold medal at the 2010 Olympics.
Beyond the collective and individual honors and his numerous records, Fleury will forever be known for his cheerful demeanor. His smile will surely be missed by all fans, as he was always positive.
So, for one more season, you will have the chance to watch one of the best goaltenders hockey has ever seen in action. His induction into the Hall of Fame is just a formality!
