The rumor circulated a lot last week, but apparently, it is now confirmed.

It would be the end for the young defenseman Mattias Norlinder in North America, even though he is still under contract for one more season with the Habs.

We won't see Norlinder anymore

It's unfortunate because at one point, he was seen as one of the best prospects in the organization, especially on defense, but he has clearly been surpassed by several names within the organization.

Montreal:

Guhle-Savard
Matheson-Harris
Xhekaj-Kovacevic-Lindstrom

Laval:

Trudeau-Barron
Struble-Mailloux
Beaudin-Tourigny
P.-Bisson-Keeper

This didn't really leave room for Norlinder anymore, so he's returning to the SHL, where he had success in the past.

Norlinder, who will turn 24 in April, would have already played his last game with the Montreal Canadiens organization.

"Don't expect the Canadiens to re-sign him. (unless he has a monster season in Sweden this year, and even then)"

He ultimately collected 1 point in 6 games for the Canadiens and 21 points in 73 games for the Laval Rocket.

We wish him the best of luck for the future.
