To start the week, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes had an unexpected decision to make.

The Nashville Preds surprised the hockey world, by placing the name of dynamic young forward Eeli Tolvanen on waivers. Fans of many NHL teams were excited to see their favorite team acquire this young talent for free.

The 23-year-old Tolvanen has four points in 13 games this season. In his NHL career, he has 51 in 135 games. In the 2017 draft, he was expected to come out top-10 because of his immense potential and because of his elite shot.

In the end, the Seattle Kraken got the chance to get their hands on Tolvanen for free. So that means Kent Hughes had a decision to make.

"So the CH didn't want Tolvanen since he made it to the Kraken in the NHL waivers seems to me that would have been a nice risk. We'll see." - Stephane Leroux, RDS

And he added this, when a fan told him that we have to stop trying to give every player put on waivers a chance:

"Martin St. Louis and Daniel Briere have already been waived. Have a good night." - Stephane Leroux, RDS

With Tolvanen's first-ever game in a Seattle Kraken uniform just hours away, do you also think Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens should have taken a chance on the promising Tolvanen?

He can become an Alex DeBrincat, just as he can become a Mike Hoffman.

Ironically, it probably would have been a good idea to replace Hoffman with Tolvanen, but that's obviously easier said than done.
