Big news: Kent Hughes and the CH now have the opportunity to acquire promising defenseman Henry Thrun for free

In the last few hours, the Anaheim Ducks organization has learned some major news, bad news for them and good news for other teams.

Their very promising young defenseman Henry Thrun has just informed them that he will become a free agent, free as a bird, and that he will not sign with the team that drafted him. Ouch.

That's reminiscent of the Adam Fox situation.

Thrun, a 2019 draft pick of the Ducks, is 21 years old and has a lot of promise.

He has 24 points in 24 games this season in the NCAA with Harvard University (32 points in 35 games last season)

He is currently playing with Montreal Canadiens prospect Sean Farrell, he knows Cole Caufield well and he seems to have the same roots as Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis' kids (from New England).

The Habs connections are numerous, and this would be a solid free agent acquisition, but let's wait and see.

Thrun was in the same situation as a certain Jayden Struble is now. Will Struble follow suit?

To be continued, but I prefer Thrun to Struble, so this could possibly be an interesting avenue for the CH to explore.

I have faith in the ability of Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis to bring in a very promising young player from their corner, and it could be a big move for the CH.
