Two Canadiens players were the first to openly express that they are now considering modifying their equipment.

So, we see that Jordan Harris is clearly considering changing certain elements of his equipment. He's possibly thinking about the neck guard, but also, wrist guards.
There is also the Quebecer Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.
'For sure, it makes you think about what's next. The guys are asking questions. We haven't talked about the neck guard together yet, but we see that players in the American League are starting to wear it. I saw that. It could help me, for sure, but we don't know if it could have been avoided if we had worn a neck guard.'
