Canadiens Players Consider Equipment Change After the Adam Johnson Tragedy

It's a very recent tragedy in the world of hockey.

It's absolutely the kind of horrific story that has major repercussions and that can bring about change.

Thus, journalist Marc Antoine Godin, who covers the Montreal Canadiens, has just published an interesting article on the subject.

After what unfortunately happened to Adam Johnson, will it lead to changes in the NHL and in the CH locker room?

Two Canadiens players were the first to openly express that they are now considering modifying their equipment.

Jordan Harris.

'It deserves serious consideration. I don't know what it will lead to, though. I think it's more of a personal decision. For example, not everyone wears a mouthguard. Everyone should wear one, but that's not the case. However, these things are available if we want them.

It's thought-provoking and I'm thinking about it.

I know they're also testing wrist guards in the American League. That's something that could lead to changes to the neck guard, but we're seeing more and more players getting cut on the arms and wrists.'

So, we see that Jordan Harris is clearly considering changing certain elements of his equipment. He's possibly thinking about the neck guard, but also, wrist guards.

There is also the Quebecer Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.

'For sure, it makes you think about what's next. The guys are asking questions. We haven't talked about the neck guard together yet, but we see that players in the American League are starting to wear it. I saw that. It could help me, for sure, but we don't know if it could have been avoided if we had worn a neck guard.'

Harvey-Pinard is also thinking about it.
